Jay Turnbull

Chief Instructor, CFI, CFII

Jay started his aviation career by hanging out at airports in high school, obtaining his private license the first year in college. After graduating from Embry Riddle Aeronautical University, Jay spent 6 years in the Navy flying in F4’s off the USS Saratoga. An aviation career from that point did not happen until after a 35 year stint owning a landscaping business. Retirement looming, teaching and flying became focus. He received his instructor training at The Flying School, and the rest is history.

He has been a pilot for over 45 years, beginning his professional aviation career as a flight instructor in general aviation for nine years, seven of those at a two year college aviation program in KS. Mike also served as a DPE for seven years. In 2017 Mike returned to instruction and particularly enjoys teaching in the Citabria. When he is not flying, Mike enjoys spending time with Bonnie (his friend and wife), cooking, reading, hiking, and camping.

In 1987, Dave changed careers and began flight training.  After finishing flight training, enjoying two years as a Flight Instructor, a 20-year run with the airlines, and 7 years trading stocks, he’s back doing something he really enjoys – teaching people how to fly.  He particularly enjoys teaching primary and instrument students. When not flying airplanes, Dave and his wife, Cindy, run a horse ranch near Lyons, Colorado.  Dave has been known to escape to one of the Colorado ski areas from time to time in the winter.

Marco Fazio

I was born and raised in Roswell, Georgia, a small town on the outskirts of Atlanta. I attended Georgia Southern University before I moved to Michigan to chase my dreams of becoming a pilot through the program offered at Western Michigan University. When I’m not flying I’m usually walking around the town or hiking. My absolute favorite thing to do is to play soccer and ride motocross when I have the opportunity.

Mike Gurwin

I grew up in the Denver area and moved to Fort Collins in 2007 to attend Colorado State University (Go Rams).  My passion for aviation started at a young age, and I can remember my parents taking me to watch the planes at the old Stapleton Airport.  Being a flight instructor gives me the opportunity to share and pass along my passion for aviation.  I love to see when something “clicks” for someone and they have that “ahaa moment” when learning.  When I’m not flying, I enjoy training dogs and spending time with my wife and son!
